Embodied AI Presents Wheeled Humanoid for Factory Work

The Swiss startup says AIR uses lightweight, tendon-driven arms and learns manufacturing tasks from human operators.

MUNICH, Germany -- A robotic startup from Switzerland named Embodied AI has launched AIR, a wheeled humanoid robot with flexible arms that can be used for performing repetitive work in manufacturing factories alongside humans.

AIR was introduced by the startup Nov. 6 at Humanoid Europe 2026 in Munich, and Embodied AI said that the robot is currently being tested by international companies. The company claims that it has signed deals with some of the world’s leading companies manufacturing industrial equipment, but the details about the clients and the number of robots are not known yet.

While traditional bipedal humanoids walk on their legs, the AIR walks on wheels and uses tendon-based mechanism to operate its arms. The motors and gears, and electronic devices are placed in the trunk of the robot and decrease the weight of its moving arms.

AIR executes tasks remotely controlled by humans while collecting data from its motions to be analyzed by its AI system. According to the firm, the robot can learn how to perform a task independently within a month with the availability of operators in case it comes across new situations.

Embodied AI, which has been founded by robotics researchers including its CEO Francesco Stella, is based in Lausanne, Switzerland. Its investors include Faber, TechShop, Look AI Ventures, Plug and Play, and Vento.

The firm states that it took nine months to develop AIR and that it is ready to scale production. It has not revealed the price, production capacity, or delivery date of the robot.
