NAO 6 (V6) vs. UBTECH Yanshee
Two programmable humanoid robots built for education and robotics development compared on mobility, sensing, programming and expandability.

Introduction
NAO 6 and UBTECH Yanshee are small programmable humanoid robots for education and robotics research. The robots are capable of walking and can be used for programming and human-robot interactions, but are designed for education, not for picking and placing material.
NAO 6 is the most sophisticated and full-size robot in the Robot24.com market-data register, measuring 57.4 cm tall, having 25 degrees of freedom, two 5 MP cameras, four microphones, sonar, IMU, touch sensors, and foot-pressure sensors. Yanshee is around 38 cm tall and has 17 anthropomorphic servos, an 8 MP camera, gyroscope, and environmental sensors.
The programming environments are distinct too. NAO 6 runs on NAOqi OS, with programming environments including Choregraphe (a visual programming tool), Python, Java and C++. The Yanshee is listed as an open source Raspberry Pi + STM32 platform running on Linux with programming environments including Blockly, Python, C/C++, Java and Perl, with support for external sensors and peripherals.
Capability and use-case data for robots is drawn from Robot24.com’s internal robot database.

How They Compare
NAO 6 is the more completely integrated NAO humanoid platform in the markets of the Robot24.com. It has 25 DOF, a battery/ runtime profile, 2 cameras, sensors throughout its body, foot sensors, sonar, microphones, and the full NAOqi software stack for education and research.
Yanshee is physically smaller and is documented more clearly as an open source development platform. Its Raspberry Pi + STM32 architecture, 5 programming models/languages and external sensor/peripheral interfaces make the expandability more emphasized in its educational characterization.
Both can be programmed and can walk, see, and hear. The biggest difference between the Robot24 record is that NAO 6 is a more closed, commercial version of a humanoid robot with more advanced sensing than a more open, modular educational development platform.
Summary
NAO 6 and Yanshee fill the same use case of an educational humanoid but their approaches vary. NAO 6 offers a better combined sensors and software suite, with 25 DOF and set runtime figures. Yanshee has a smaller size, is open sourced, and provides outstanding expandability around its Raspberry Pi + STM32 design.
